Stirling HDB Terrace - #227 Kitchen installation

hood installed. however at the wrong height. it's suppose to flush with the cabinets on both sides. now there's a kink. Told the carpenter that this is wrong but he said that if the hood is lowered to the same underside of the cabinet on both left and right, i will hit into the hood when i cook. THEN they should have installed both the cabinets on both side to the underside of the hood and not the other way around!!!!

sigh. how can this happen to me???

Stirling HDB Terrace - #224 Back to Kitchen Works

Previously...i had an obsession with the colour yellow! Well...enough of sidetracks and pretty pictures. Here's back to reality and what's been happening over the weekend.
The solid top sub-con was here in the afternoon while the granite top sub-con came in the morning at 11am while i was shopping at HollandV for my doggies' birthday presents!

These sub-cons, never on-time and never tell you exactly when they are coming. They just expect you not to work, everyday at home, anytime also can drop-by to do their stuff. WELL HELLO! i have to work too you know. Just like you MR. Sub-Con.

here are the photos of what the solid sub-con did whilst he was checking out my kitchen:

tacking of strips of wood with markings on top. They better get this right. *fingers-cross* XXX

Stirling HDB Terrace - #225 Cutlery tray IN

wednesday came the "Touch-UP" carpenter. Really. these days they have all the funny names.

Firstly he was late by 1 hour which left me half an hour to rush to my office for my meeting.

Secondly, although he fixed the drawer, shelf and door in. He fixed the wrong hinges for me!!! I paid good money for my soft closing door and he gave me ordinary hinges that 'slams' the door shut so loudly that it sounds like thunder.

Thirdly. HE may be the touch-up guy, but he sure louse at it! The touch-up is not touched up at all, i still see the markings and the scratches left from the previous carpenter!

Finally, he forgets to give me my tacs to hold my shelves. HMPH! what adjustable shelvings they promised me??? Have holes but no tacs!!!

FAINTS!!! i really want to complain!!!!

Stirling HDB Terrace - #223 YELLOW!

this page is dedicated to YELLOW. which embraces everything bright, sunny+cheery.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #222 White Kitchens

I know it must be pretty 'boring' without colours. However, for a small kitchen like ours...white is definitely a recommended colour. So...our kitchen is WHITE!

White works well for small kitchens because it is light and bright, making the space appear larger, like this photos here where the dining area is tucked right at the far end of the walkway. With a big window, daylight will play a big part in lighting the whole place up, making it appear more spacious than it actually is.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #217 Built-in furniture

YES! IT'S FINALLY HERE
today is the day where my built-in furniture begins. we have been waiting for this day the longest time. Just the other day, i met one of my ex-colleague whom i bummed into at a furniture launch. Somehow i always bum into him at these sort of occassions. and he asked whether have we moved in to which i replied not yet! And he looked totally shocked!!

"wah!! i've been waiting for you to finish your reno!!! how long has it been??? half a year already???"

smiling and laughing, totally in agreement. Yes, it has been long. I assured him that he too is on a long waiting list together with all my friends, relatives and colleagues who are also longing for my house-warming party. I promised him that i wouldn't forget him and that i will invite him to our party.

an early morning at 10am. slight drizzle, what a way to start a day..sigh. The lorry came, unloaded 4 trolleys of plywood, tool-kits, laminates, hinges and EVEN a treasure chest (left picture) where the 4 carpenters kept going back for their trusty tools.

8 men came to unload and colonise every corner of my living, dining and kitchen area. It sort of "freaked" my husband out!!! he felt a bit out of place he said! hahaha....must be all that testosterone in the house! They brought all their "ka-cang" and started rolling corrugated cardboard on the floor to protect my tiles. Even my electricican came down to tell the carpenter which wire was for which appliance in the kitchen.

after they laid all the cardboard on the floor, the unbuilt furniture starts rolling in! And we are using Formica laminates for all our built-in cabinets.

pictures of all their ka-cang (tools)...something which my mum kept referring too.

and the staircase wasn't wide enough to bring the wood panels up so they had to improvise and started moving the panels through my window!!! AMAZING. Here's how it looks on the outside at my front patio. So dutch.

here are the photos on the inside where there's another guy on the receiving end.

our Formica panels with a silver trimming. And our teka sink has been delivered too.

And 2 carpenters started on the kitchen cabinets on the 1st storey.

while another 2 did my wardrobe on the 2nd storey.

everything is starting to come into place. *happy*
